IMAGINE

Dates: July 10-28

Times: 7:30-11:30 a.m.

Location: Poe MS

Eligibility: current 7th and 8th graders

Cost: Tuition Free

Students currently in 7th and 8th grade can get some extra instruction over the summer, preparing them for success in the next grade level. 

Specifically, this program:

  • Revisits essential Mathematics and Language Arts standards
  • Scaffolds content
  • Provides opportunities to communicate, collaborate and critically think with a small group of their peers
  • Boosts literacy and numeracy practices for all students, including English learners

Students will:

  • Work on social and emotional skills
  • Strengthen essential math and reading skills
  • Collaborate in small groups
  • Think critically 
  • Set goals and reflect on their progress

How To Survive Middle School 2023

Dates: July 31-Aug 1

Times: 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Location: LJMS

Eligibility: rising 7th graders

Cost: $40

Are you a rising 7th grader who will attend Luther Jackson in the fall?  This is your chance to get this middle school thing figured out early! Come and meet students from other elementary schools who will come together here at Jackson as 7th graders, learn your way around the building, get to know some fantastic Jackson teachers, and have a great time! Registered students will be given access to a wealth of information about LJMS as well as get a chance to explore the building when they come for this 2-day session. Transportation, lunch, and a new Luther Jackson T-shirt are included!

VIP Camp LJ

(Holmes, Glasgow, Kilmer, Jackson, Thoreau, & Poe Students)

Dates: June 28-July 28 (no camp on June 30, July 3, or July 4)

Times: 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Location: Luther Jackson MS

Eligibility: rising 7th & 8th graders

Cost: $100

FCPS and Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood and Community Services (DNCS) have teamed up to offer a 5-week camp for rising 7th and 8th graders. Our camp will be a combination of students from the following middle schools: Kilmer, Glasgow, Holmes, Jackson, Poe, and Thoreau.  Bus transportation will be provided from various pick-up locations which will be communicated in June prior to the start of camp. 

There is a $50 registration fee., and a mandatory parent meeting before camp starts.

The staff is led by your local After-School Specialists and trained DNCS staff. As well as FCPS staff.Campers will have a great time playing sports, games, doing arts and crafts, cooking, drama, and exploring concepts in science and technology. There will be a weekly field trip available for an additional fee.
