The Region 2 Leadership Team is pleased to announce Ms. Raven Jones as the new principal at Luther Jackson Middle School, effective September 19, 2022.

Ms. Jones, currently the Administrator of Montrose Alternative Learning Center, is an experienced administrator with a track record of leadership, capable of leading multiple programs in diverse settings. Ms. Jones brings a holistic approach to the education of students. Her core belief is that every student should be provided access and opportunity to a rigorous and relevant curriculum as well as community supports to eliminate barriers to learning for students and their families.

Ms. Jones has served in a variety of leadership roles across the country. In Louisville, Kentucky, she impacted students with disabilities by leading the implementation of research-based strategies in Reading and Math. As Director of Student Services in Prince William County, she led the implementation of Multi-Tier Systems of support at Woodbridge Middle School. A proactive approach to restorative practices resulted in a 21% decrease in out-of-school suspensions. Her experiences in Title I programs allowed her to increase parental involvement by co-leading Parent Advisory Council meetings across all Duval County Public Schools in Florida. At Montrose Alternative Learning Center, Ms. Jones demonstrated her passion for developing a caring, respectful, and inclusive school culture.

Ms. Jones understands that middle school students must have equal access and opportunity to a rich academic curriculum during these very important exploratory years. During multiple interviews, Ms. Jones clearly expressed a strong desire to extend curricular programs and activities to ensure all students and families learn of these programs and students take full advantage of them. Ms. Jones deeply believes in the importance of a well-balanced learning experience, including rigorous and relevant learning experiences during the school day and opportunities in after-school programs.

Ms. Jones holds a Bachelor's in History and Political Science from Winthrop University, a Master of Guidance and Counseling and Community Counseling from South Carolina State University, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Education Leadership from George Mason University. Ms. Jones has over nine years of administration experience, having served as an Administrator in Jefferson County Public Schools, the Director of Student Services in Prince William County Public Schools, and most recently as the Administrator at Montrose Alternative Learning Center.

Ms. Jones is excited to join the Luther Jackson Middle School family. She will continue to work closely with Interim Principal, Mr. Augie Frattali, and our Assistant Principals at Luther Jackson to continue the great work the current administration has put together for this school year. Please join me in welcoming Ms. Jones as the new principal of Luther Jackson Middle School!
