The LJMS Drama Department hosted a special international event for theater arts students and guests with an exclusive viewing of the local, award-winning Ghanaian musical, Sankofa. About 75 students watched the musical via DVD and were mesmerized by the performance of these Ghanaian professionals who incorporate their traditional theater style of their nation to include dance, music, and magical folktale elements. The message of compassion, peace, and hope, along with the ideal of using the past to guide your future, truly resonated with these students. Afterwards, they had the unique opportunity to participate in a live Zoom call with some of the cast in Ghana. The students asked pertinent questions and were thrilled to be able to speak directly with the cast. What an amazing afternoon for these kids to celebrate the joy of being a Global Citizen here at FCPS! They did LJMS proud!
