Cross-Town Kicks Champs

At the recent Cross-Town Kicks Soccer Tournament, our own "Brazil FC" walked away with the championship trophy after defeating "The Diplomats" of Longfellow 3-0 in the finals.

Teams from Longfellow and Kilmer came to compete with our students, and we can't say enough about the way our students handled themselves. They played with intensity, and with composure and class. Emotions ran high at times, but never boiled over. We had no incidents of unsportsmanlike conduct and no arguments or fights. Just kids playing hard and cheering for their friends.

It was awesome.

Thanks to Dr. Ogilvie, Ms. Uriona, Ms Carroll, and Mr. Taft for supporting these students in after-school soccer on Mondays and Wednesdays to get them ready for this event and for their game day support of the players.

Thanks also to Matt Iskander, Oscar Paz, Jennifer Hercules, and Selma Tunc for their event set-up and breakdown and help with managing the huge number of students who showed up to watch.  And thank you to the staff members who stopped by to see our players in action!

We do have a vibrant middle school sports program here at Jackson and at almost every other middle school and events like this have the potential to reveal some of the best qualities our students have as well as give them a sense of unity and belonging to our school
