Don't be surprised if you see a robot walking down the hall soon here at school. Students in Luther Jackson Middle School's Engineering Department have built a large robot using parts that adult engineers use to build robots at big companies. The robot is metal and is two feet long and one foot wide. It has special wheels that allow it to go sideways. In fact, the robot's special wheels allow it to go in all directions. This is just the beginning. This robot is called the "MECK-A-NEM" because of the special wheels. It was built by our engineering students. And this is just the base or foundation of the robot. Next semester and next year, students will build arms and a body on top of this robot.
